With some of our fixtures the wires are not color coded white or black. When the wires are both clear, the wire with the black writing running down the length of the wire indicates the black or "hot" wire. If you are unable to see the black writing the neutral wire or white wire can be identified with a ribbed edge along the length of the wire, the black wire will be smooth.
